ABOUT
"With a view to develop all-round personality of the students, the Commerce Department plans, besides adequate coverage of the syllabi, many other activities including industrial visits, seminars, quizes etc. during the year" Introduction The Department of Commerce is one of the most prestigious Departments in the College and the courses offered by it are among the most sought after and popular. Central to the success and popularity of the Department is a remarkable faculty comprising 07 Permanent and 15 ad-hoc members. The Department focuses on actual business practices, and creates a deep understanding of business through its research and interaction. This is achieved by teachers who work with skill and passion. Our faculty is an interesting mix of extremely experienced individuals who are experts in their own respective fields and relatively younger members who bring fresh ideas and approach to the floor. We at the Department emphasize the wholesome development of our students. Apart from the strict course curriculum that is followed, several extra curricular activities such as the Annual Commerce Festival and International Seminars are also organized. It is little wonder that our alumni have, over the years, not only secured ranks at the University level, but also achieved success and positions of leadership in diverse organizations and made Ramjas proud. To enable all round development of our students, talks by eminent speakers and interactions with industry leaders are organized by the Department. The Department carries out ongoing assessment of students through assignments, group presentations and discussions, class tests and quizzes and an active tutorial system that ensures personal teacher-student interaction in addressing course-related issues. The Department has fully equipped computer laboratory for IT based papers through packages of Tally, MS-Office and HTML. The Department offers skill enhancement courses in E-Commerce and E-filing of returns, Digital Marketing, MS-Office to prepare students for the Corporate World. The Commerce graduates of our college are in great demand in the corporate world and several have been placed through the College Placements Committee in reputed companies such as KPMG, Capital IQ, Genpact, Deloitte, Ernst and Young etc., in recent years. Many of the Department’s alumnae have made their marks in the fields of Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretary, Cost and Management Accountancy, Management and Academics in India and abroad.

COURSE
The Department runs Three Course, namely: 1. B.Com Honours 2. B.Com Programme 3. M.Com The syllabus of M.Com, B.Com.(Honours) and B.Com Programme is designed and structured by the Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. It is designed to promote the various issues in the context of Commerce and Business as per today’s global business world and goes through rigorous revision from time to time. The department follows the scope of UGCF B.Com.(Honours) and B.Com Programme structure, where all students have the choice to select various subject options based on their understanding and future prospects.
TEACHING LEARNING
Ramjas Business Review ‘Ramjas Business Review’ is the official business newsletter of Ramjas College, University of Delhi. The aim behind this initiative of our Commerce Society is to provide a platform for exhibiting writing, research, and critical thinking among commerce enthusiasts.  Ramjas Business Review- Issue 1: The first issue of ‘Ramjas Business Review’ was released on August 30, 2021, under the guidance of the exofficio TIC of our department, CA (Dr.) P. C. Tulsian in the presence of our respected Principal Sir, Dr. Manoj Kumar Khanna; Commerce department faculty members, and our students. This issue covers a total of 10 articles and 1 research paper on the topics related to business and the corporate world like law, taxation, etc. The editorial board was headed by Anisha Bhargava as Editor-in-Chief and Shruti Sharan as Deputy Editor– in–Chief. Other members were Yashraj Rajput, Shobhit Sood, Mahak Bagaria, and Siddharth Badlani. The Design Team was headed by Nandini Singla as Creative Head and other members were Aarys Jamkar, Ojas Roj, Garima, Sunidhi Gupta, Mayank Goyal, Divyanshu Sahu, Rishabh Agarwal, Muskan Goyal, Divya Garg, Rashika Agarwal, Kanishka Sharma, Harshita Jain, Rohit Chawla.

The Commerce Society The commerce society is an internal organ of the commerce department, one of the most prestigious and esteemed departments of Ramjas College. It’s an arena where academic intellect is transformed into application and labor of exposure, which keeps the department afloat. The commerce society has hitherto been able to achieve its goal of excellence by providing practical knowledge and work experiences. Delhi University has a rich history of academic excellence, and our commerce society is a vibrant and integral part of this legacy. Our society isn't just about what we learn in the classroom. It's about the friendships we forge, the talents we nurture, and the passions we pursue. The commerce society beholds every member as a storehouse of potential that just needs to be tapped. We believe that if provided with the right tools, anyone can achieve whatever they desire. We view failures as stepping stones to success. We believe in celebrating the achievements as well as the failures of our members if they are comfortable with it.We view all our members as a family and strive to learn and grow together Dance Society The Dance society is one of the top ranked societies in the DU circuit.The members of the society have emerged victorious in numerous competitions organised by International Management Institute, NIT Delhi, Ambedkar university amongst other reputed institutes.They also secured the runner-ups position at K-pop contest 2018.RDS CAMPM20-21 was organised to teach students different styles and flavours of dance. Melange Mélange is the fine arts society providing space to students of Ramjas to express their creativity in the form of art. Having collaborated with various social bodies for charitable work like Eco-Femme, Mélange has also featured in reputable magazines. They have won laurels for their craft in institutions like IIT Bombay, SRCC, Hindu, Miranda, etc. The society released the second edition of its renowned newsletter “Aurora” showcasing various artworks of its members. Their annual fest "Artosphere" consisted of 100+ art pieces created by the talented individuals of the society. Finance and Investment Cell The Finance and Investment Society, Ramjas College is a student-led project that strives to provide continual intellectual development for all finance lovers by conducting investment research and keeping the excitement alive throughout the year.FIC works with a vision to impart financial literacy through analytical research work. The cell each year conducts its literacy campaigns to collect primary data through 1800+ surveys to conduct research. It has an integrated website-Investgrip.com with a state-of-the-art mock stock, a stock market simulator engine, unique in the DU circuit.The website is home to their newsletter Grubstake and The Finance Review. Members have successfully completed a Live project with an ed-tech startup, requiring us to prepare an equity research report with an Indian conglomerate to supplement their investment plans. Connecting Dreams Foundation CDF provides the youth with an opportunity to bring about a sustainable and scalable change by working along the lines of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as defined by the United Nations. Through its changemaker network, CDF uses entrepreneurial action to empower people to improve their livelihoods in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable way, thus converting their dreams into reality. Maverick Maverick - The Marketing Society of Ramjas is a newly found society of Ramjas College. It holds three departments namely Outreach , Social Media and Creative department. The society aims to bring forward the role of marketing in a fun and creative way. As the name suggests - Maverick , a person having opinions and vision different than others. This is what we host at our society - Visionaries. This society is just a bunch of students who came together to think out of the box and experiment in the world of marketing. Illuminer Counsel At Illuminer Counsel Ramjas, we are on a mission to empower the next generation of leaders and professionals. Our passionate and dynamic team is dedicated to foster career growth, skill development, and providing unwavering support to young individuals as they embark on their journey to success. Through mentorship, skill-building initiatives, and engaging speaker sessions, we create an environment that cultivates growth and collaboration. We firmly believe that when young minds are nurtured and provided with the right resources, they can achieve remarkable milestones. Navaras Navaras: The Classical Dance wing of Ramjas College is a space created by classical dance enthusiasts primarily to practise and propagate the Indian Classical Dance forms. Navaras aims to provide a platform for students who want to keep up with their respective Classical dance forms and also provides an opportunity to learn and explore the rich Classical traditions through dance. Navaras is inclusive of all Indian Classical dance forms, making sure to retain the essence of each Individual dance from every corner of our country. We encourage our team members to enhance and develop bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, social skills, emotional play and other factors which are necessary to be a dancer. We aspire to learn from each other and enhance our knowledge. We aim to attain excellence through proper training and practice sessions which are not only gruelling but also extremely rewarding in terms of love and praise we receive. Innotech Innotech, Ramjas Tech Society, co-founded by Ritika Agarwal and Chetan Rawat, stands tall as Delhi University's premier tech society. Founded with an unwavering commitment to fostering practical learning, Innotech is entirely student-run, dedicated to empowering Ramjas College's scholars with invaluable technological knowledge. Our name reflects our mission: creating a vibrant community of tech-savvy, industry-ready students. Innotech's core focus revolves around honing skills that bridge the gap between academia and the corporate world. We equip our members with essential hard skills, such as mastering Excel, financial modelling, and crafting dashboards using diverse tools. Simultaneously, we conduct sessions on soft skills like group discussions and personal interviews, empowering students with a holistic skill set. Enactus Enactus Ramjas, established in 2011, is a student-run organisation that seeks to uplift communities through entrepreneurial action. Our ideas have given birth to 10+ projects, created 182 entrepreneurs, and impacted thousands of lives. With our four ongoing projects, Project Aradhaga, Project Inaayat, Project Swabun, and Project Waraq, we work for the upliftment and benefit of the society. In the 12 years since its inception, Enactus Ramjas has been decorated with numerous grants from KPMG, Godrej, Walmart, Mahindra, etc. and various achievements while gaining national recognition. With numerous communities and countless volunteer hours, we move towards a single goal of ours: impacting lives for good. Ramjas Debating Society The Ramjas Debating Society has come to be one of the most prestigious debating societies in the country. Over the years, it has established itself as an institution which provides a platform for young minds to discuss, deliberate and debate on the most crucial and relevant topics relating to the cultural, economic and socio-political realms of the society. Since its inception, members of both the Hindi and English wings of the society have proved their mettle time and again, earning numerous laurels for the college and have played a significant role in enriching its legacy. The English Wing of the society conducts its annual debating tournament, Polemic. The society fosters an inclusive and understanding space that encourages conversation and debate to take place with a great emphasis on fraternity, which is premised on its commitment towards playing its fair part in the development of dialogue. The current council includes Ravi Sharma as President, Adarsh Kumar Dubey as Vice President and Khayati Sharma as the treasurer and in the Hindi Wing and Chinmayi Sharma as President, Harshil as Vice-President in the English wing of the society and Gaurang Shah as the treasurer for both the wings. Ramjas Consulting Society The Ramjas Consulting Society (RCS) is a dynamic student-led organization founded in 2019, dedicated to delivering high-quality consulting services to real-world corporate entities. RCS takes immense pride in the success of its alumni, who have secured positions in prestigious global companies such as Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, PwC, Deloitte, and more, along with gaining admission to esteemed B-Schools. RCS actively prepares its members for consulting and management interviews through training, guesstimates, and case studies. The society has gained national and international recognition, consistently achieving podium finishes in case competitions across renowned colleges. With a focus on real-world experience, RCS has completed over 20 live projects across diverse industries. Additionally, the society conducts training sessions, offers insightful industry reports, collaborates with other consulting groups, and benefits from mentorship by industry experts who are graduates from top B-Schools like Indian School of Business and London Business School. Pinnacle- Placement Cell Pinnacle, Ramjas College's Placement Cell, aims to elevate students' careers and create a thriving corporate culture within the college. The cell continues to provide valuable opportunities to students, including internships, webinars, and job prospects. Through collaborations with various organizations, Pinnacle enriches students' learning experiences with initiatives like a 7-week Bootcamp, live mock interviews, and insightful panel discussions on career paths and actuarial science. Companies from various sectors, including D.E. Shaw, EY, and Deloitte, participate in the recruitment process. Pinnacle's holistic approach combines education with career preparation, nurturing skill growth, and fostering valuable professional connections, ultimately guiding Ramjas College students towards successful career paths. Pinnacle connects education with career while nurturing skill growth and fostering professional connections, enabling them to rise to the pinnacle of their careers. Career and development cell The Ramjas College Career and Development Cell is a well-organized initiative, founded in 2018, committed to addressing students' educational and social needs while nurturing their holistic development. We focus on guiding students in making informed career choices and providing valuable insights into various career aspects and trends. Structured into three departments—Graphic Designing, Public Relations and Outreach, Content Department—we provide comprehensive support. Additionally, we offer two initiatives: 1. Student Alumni Connect (SAC): SAC connects students with successful Ramjas alumni, fostering engagement, and inspiring young minds. Over a hundred alumni and fifty student sessions have been conducted. 2. CRACK It with CDC (CWC): CWC prepares students for interviews and discussions, helping them overcome fears and gain confidence in the professional arena through mock sessions and evaluations. RESULT ANALYSIS
STUDENT PROGRESSION
The students of Ramjas College Commerce Department have secured positions in various top league IIMs. They also acquire degrees in M.Com, MBA and PhD subsequent to completing their graduation. A major chunk also prefers to take their career path towards civil services as well. The Commerce graduates of our college are in great demand in the corporate world and several have been placed through the College Placements Committee in reputed companies such as Google, KPMG, Capital IQ, Genpact, Deloitte, Ernst and Young etc., in recent years. Many of the Department’s alumnae have made their mark in the fields of Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretary, Cost and Works Accountancy, Management and Academics in India and abroad.
DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI
Sumit Antil (Batch of 2018) won gold medal in the javelin at the Tokyo Paralymics.  Annop Kumar (Batch of 2018) secured AIR 20 in the CA final examination.  Paras Batra (Batch of 2018) cracked clat PG with AIR 245 and got admission in NLU Jodhpur.  Mohnish Jaiswal (Batch of 2017) got admitted in IIM Kozhikode. Priyank Kishore Cleared Civil Services Exams. AIR 61, UPSC, CSE 2019. Currently assumed charge as the Collector and District Magistrate of Silvassa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli district. - Anshika Jain, AIR 306, CSE 2022, Joined Indin Police Services.
INFRASTRUCTURE
The Department has huge infrastructure with 10 classrooms and two Computer Labs with a capacity of 100 students. The classrooms are equipped with all the amenities like projectors, white board, black board etc. The rooms are spacious and have capacity of 100 students each in every room. The computer Alb has 100 laptops with all the essential softwares like Tally ERP, MS Office etc. Besides that, the department has its on separate staffroom as well.
BEST PRACTICES
The Commerce Society of Ramjas College has organized three workshops in the annual year 2021- 2022. A briefing about these workshops presented below. 1) Workshop on Financial Modelling: Comsoc conducted a workshop on ‘Financial Modelling’ were more than 80 students’ participated. The speaker was Siddharth Jain. The event organized to teach the participants basics and intermediatelevel tools of financial modeling and valuation. Financial modeling is the task of building an abstract representation of a real-world financial situation which is very significant these days. Students got to learn a lot of insights from this workshop. 2) Workshop on Ms-Excel: This workshop was conducted online on November 28, 2021. The speaker was Pranav Dedhia. The workshop aimed at adding value to the students’ skills by equipping them with Ms-Excel, and involving them in the practical application of academic learning. The workshop proved to be constructive. There were 100+ participants and it was a highly interactive session. 3) Workshop on Technical Analysis: Workshop was organized on February 2-3, 2022. The Speaker was Harsh Doshi. Purpose of this workshop was to help the students go through the academic learning process and to know about the hands-on practical exposure to technical analysis. The aim was to pass on the information regarding current market situations that students may experience in their work or personal experience in the bond, commodity, currency, equity, futures, and options markets and address the doubts of the students.
