Introduction
Established in 1917, the Department of Sanskrit is one of the oldest departments of college. It imparts teaching to students at B.A (Hons) and at M.A. level. The Department is very well-known for its academic activities and has also been acknowledged for the same by various organizations, viz. Sanskrit Academy, Delhi Government, Sahitya Parishad, etc. In 1992, Delhi Government honoured the department with "Mahavidyalaya Sanskrit Sewa Samman". All the faculty members are very well-qualified and are engaged in the teaching post-Graduate classes in the Faculty of Arts. Many of them are also supervising research work of students, leading to Doctoral degree.
