About

  • Ramjas college was the first institution in the University of Delhi to adopt automation of Library (since 2000) with vast collection of books.
  • The ILMS software used for automation is TROODON version 3.0 . This software has different modules like acquisition, maintenance, circulation, serials, online public access catalogue (OPAC) kiosk that helps to search and locate the books in library. It also alerts students via reminder SMS for book return .This software supports Devanagri and other Indian languages.
  • It is fully air-conditioned and Wi-fi enabled . The Entry register is kept at main entrance to record the daily attendance of the students and teachers separately.
  • The library has provision of different seating areas for students and faculty with desktop facility
  • The library gives an access to “DrillBit” software to check the plagiarism of document.
  • The Library has The Constitution of India put on display for easy access to students and staff.
  • The college library has a rich collection of more than 1,33,585 books . It also has rare book collection section of old books that are no more available in markets. It subscribes to 18 newspapers and several magazines.
  • A collection of science books includes books on subjects such as botany, zoology, physics, chemistry, electronics, anthropology, life sciences, physical sciences, and geology. It also contains a comprehensive collection of academic and supplementary texts for Humanities subjects such as English, Hindi, Sanskrit, History, Economics, and Philosophy.
  • Apart from the in-house collection, the library has full access to thousands of journals online through N-LIST databases. N-list is a comprehensive database where users of Ramjas College can access more than 6000+ e-journals, 199500 e-books through the National Digital Library . It covers all the disciplines i.e., Pure Science, Social Sciences and Humanities Including Languages and Linguistics.
  • Library has subscription to LEX software from University of Delhi that allows students to covert e- books to pdf which can be downloaded for study material.
  • To facilitate access to adequate learning resources for people with print disabilities , the library provides Barile books / dictionaries and Braile desktop computers.
  • To ensure ease of accessibility, visually challenged students are provided with recording devices , ANGEL to record their lectures.
  • The average annual expenditure on books and journals for the last 5 years has been Rs.7,84.969.60/-
  • Approximately 365 unique users have accessed the N-LIST. The average daily footfall count in the library is approximate 308. The Library is optimally used by teachers and students.
  • One of the future expansion programmes of the library is to update the complete automation of library usage enabling self-check-in and check-out with the help of an Electronic Security Gate.
