Shunya, the Dramatics society

Stepping into the world of theatre with SHUNYA, the dramatics society of Ramjas College is a journey of learning and unlearning. Shunya then aims to present and create plays which are relevant for the society, because theatre is a medium of protest and it should always exist. The society intends to create a safe space, which is aware of its surroundings and mindful of what it creates. The constant questioning, discussing, screening and adding the post of gender sensitization representation have helped the society achieve its goal. The society begins its annual working procedure with an enriching four round audition process, full of creative methods and activities to check the spontaneity, acting, writing and creativity of students. It is followed by preparatory workshops conducted by society’s alumni and seniors. The purpose is to mould and prepare the members for the annual productions and also to make the space comfortable for everyone. Theatre is a form of expression, it is art. A theatre artist is free to create. Shunya aims to provide that freedom where one can create love, music, friendship, sufferings, or revolution. The society aims to portray life as it comes, with the freedom of expression, the freedom to breathe, the freedom to live freely without permission. With this freedom Shunya creates its remarkable annual productions which are performed and appreciated all across the country.
